Resident/community management software

Our current objective is to create and improve upon the world's greatest community website builder. Over the years, we've had many communities request features that fall under the umbrella of resident or community management software. This is a separate industry from the one our company falls into, although we do see the similarities. There are a number of companies that provide this type of software, and they generally don't compete with website builders.
Some examples of features that fall under management software include:
- Task/project tracking, usually tied to form submissions (maintenance requests, work orders, ARC requests, etc.)
- Reservation system, usually for amenities
- Resident billing (assessing fines, tracking payments made outside the website, sending notices of payments due, due dates, late fees, etc.)
- Financial tools (accounting tools, vendor payments, etc.)
- Document storage (bulk uploading/downloading of files, data retention policies, etc.)
- Anonymous violation tracking
While management software is on our radar, it's not the industry we're currently in. Still, we'll use this post to gather thoughts, ideas, and comments from customers in case we decide to head that direction in the future.

I like the idea of a reservation system for amenities - one that could be queued to a group of members for approval, then automatically added to a calendar for viewing.

We're such a small community and there are so few changes that it will remain easier for us to maintain the Covenants as a document. I will have to defer to others for feedback.

Once covenants are loaded, isn't the Secretary required to manage/ update any changes to the covenants, including authorization and filing for changes. I would suggest that such changes be shared, prior to creating a "platform". In our case, we are more into policies regarding Covenant/ Deed Restriction application/ interpretation rather than requiring a tracking process and initiating changes to teh covenants.

Covenant’s change so infrequently for smaller communities. I’m concerned due to frequent inactivity once the covenants are loaded there would be constant training for the Secretary or whoever is assigned the task unless it is simplified. In most states they need filed with the county courts system. Unless it submits the modification additions or deletions with these legal entities it may not be beneficial.

Basic Accounting Feature for the Treasurer (Dues, Reminders)

Our treasurer collects dues quarterly and follows up with a spreadsheet.
Request to:
- add basic accounting features for dues collection
- get the option to send reminders to all or only those who are late
And after this first step at a later point in time add the option to add expenditures.

Calendar events - prevent double booking

We would like to allow residents to "self book" some of our rooms. The way it is now, someone could still book even though the slot is already booked. In order to avoid conflict, we'd like to see the system deny the ability to double book. I realize this would require new rules/approval levels, but would be a.great benefit to sit admins - everything would not have to be funneled through them.
