Allow admins to hide member contact information in the directory
Josh Madsen
Wish you could make the resident directory have options to exclude phone numbers and emails as the admin, not the homeowner.

I can see where the ability to set the default to private would be beneficial, but once someone is in the community it's my perspective it's better to teach them how to maintain their profile than to do it for them. We send out a welcome letter with information on what the default profile setting is and how to change it and how to contact the board if they have questions. I also use an Admin-Added homeowner type for residents who do not create their own account. Since they haven't created an account and therefore couldn't have opted in for electronic communications, all required communications must go by USPS (in our state at least).

Control Default User Privacy

As an Admin of our HOA page, i should have the ability to control the privacy of the members, such as hiding their phone numbers, addresses, or completely from the residential list. Many users create accounts and do not realize they are sharing phone numbers or emails and some accounts do not need to share the external address, it would be best if i can turn that off by default.

I had just that situation this week. I learned a homeowner does not want his email and phone number on the directory; he has never and doesn't want to register; and as admin, I can't change his info to exclude certain information. That would be a helpful feature.

Also i would like the ability to change member account info. We have many older non-pc savvy members who have mispelled email accounts, addresses etc.. and I can't get them to update them. With incorrect emails they don't receive monthly blast mail or any reminder emails about comunity info.

I agree with being able to set the default values, so members need to explicitly select info sharing.

Only if the member has that responsibility as well. I do not want the responsibility of managing member's privacy settings by default or otherwise.

Chris Juzda of course. Or have us control if phone numbers can be shared or not in the residential directory. The use case here is users have bill to address showing up in the community residential, i dont want non community addresses to show up. I have the ability to add address for an account and it shows up there too and user is not aware of additional data added by an admin.
Definitely not saying users shouldnt be responsible, i had to tell users to hide their email as another community member scrubbed it and sends mass emails. Not our fault that they shared but would be good to control if emails should even be displayed by default, user should opt in rather than out

Agree here. Similarly, add a way to make the default appearance of contact information in the directory (name, address, email, and phone) be "private" so that the feature is "opt in" vs "opt out". We're about 30/70 for/against members having their info in a community directory -- and we'd like to may a directory available to those who wish to publish their information to the community without requiring everyone to go in and remove their information if they don't want to be there (and admin feature to edit a user's record would also be very helpful -- to correct those members already who already have an account to protect their privacy by default.

This would be a helpful option. We have residents who have difficulty managing settings and have asked for help in this regard. We also have several retired law enforcement agents who did undercover work and are covered by federal statute privacy laws. They have been reluctant to join the website even after being advised that they can modify privacy settings. Thanks for considering this request.

The fact that "Hide" is not the default for email and phone prevents us from using the Member Directory page since some members will neglect to set their preferences to HIDE even though they don't want to share this info with others. We have not launched our website yet and plan to hold off having a directory until the default is changed to HIDE or admins can set a member who has not registered to HIDE.

Without the ability to hide member contact information by default, and requiring the member opt-in to display their contact information, we are risk of validating PII (Personally Identifiable Information) laws. For now our site can not use the resident directory list, even for those that wish to share their information, because the default is to display this information even for those that do not opt-in.
Please consider changing this policy to comply with industry PII standards.
